1 - Creating a New Connection to a Repository

To view files stored in a ProjectWise repository (also known as a datasource) you need to setup a connection to the repository.

Before making a connection please make sure CORS is configured on your Web Services Gateway server (WSG): Please follow these direction in learning more and configuring CORS 

  1. From the Manage Connections page, select New Connection.
  2. In the Create New Connection dialog box that displays, enter a name for your connection in the Connection Name field.
  3. Then select the type of repository you want to connect to from the Repository Type dropdown. Additional fields display in the Create New Connection dialog box.
  4. In the Server Url field, type in the server URL provided by Bentley Web Services Gateway. Check with your IT administrator for this URL.
  5. Select Get Datasource to connect to the server and get a list of available repositories.
  6. From the Datasource dropdown, select the desired repository.
  7. Enter your Username and Password in the appropriate fields.
  8. From the Work Area dropdown, select the desired Work Area.
  9. If you wish, you may provide a Description as well.
  10. Select Connect and the Connection is created and the name and description of the connection display in the Manage Connections list.

When you create a connection, the name of the connection is displayed in the Left Pane of the ProjectWise Share Work Area. To view this, go back to the Work Area by selecting ProjectWise Share in the top left. The ProjectWise Share page displays. To open the repository which you have connected to, select the name of the connection in the Left Pane.
